Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh has become the new defence minister on Friday, replacing Nirmala Sitharaman.
In the first regime of Narendra Modi government, Mr Singh had served as home minister.
Mr Singh has been replaced by BJP president Amit Shah. Mr Shah is considered as close confidante of the prime minister.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi along with 57 other ministers took oath at a swearing in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan here.
Mr Singh hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli and has won from Lucknow seat.
