Rajnath Singh pays tributes at National War Memorial

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday paid tributes to the martyred soldiers at New War Memorial, before assuming the charge of his ministry.

In a tweet, Mr Singh said, “Paid tributes to the martyred soldiers   who laid down their lives in the line of duty, at the National War Memorial today.”

He also said that the fallen heroes represent the character of India.

“These fallen heroes represent the character of India who has a long history of courage, sacrifice and patriotism. I salute them for keeping India safe,” the minister said.

Mr Singh will take charge of his ministry today in sometimes.

The minister was accompanied by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Indian Air Force Chief ACM BS Dhanoa and Indian Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh.

During first stint of Narendra Modi government, he was handling home ministry affairs.
