Jaisalmer: Appreciating the sportsman spirit, dedication and professional standards displayed by all the teams at Jaisalmer Military station in Rajasthan, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said event like International Army Scout Masters Competition is an excellent platform to allow countries to build a constructive dialogue, strengthening friendship, partnership and trust.
Including India, a total of eight foreign army teams had participated in the 5th International Army Scout Masters Competition which the India hosted and participated for the first time.
“Such joint military events would lead to interoperability and sharing of best practices thereby, benefiting all the participating nations,” Mr Singh said during the closing ceremony here.
In the Competition, the Indian Army team has comprehensively won in a fiercely fought games with teams from Armenia, Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Sudan and Uzbekistan.
The Indian Army team was selected and trained under the aegis of Southern Command.
Besides the defence minister, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Southern Army Commander Lieutenant General SK Saini and delegations of participating countries, members of the International Organising Committee and several civilian and military dignitaries, Rajasthan-based Defence PRO Col Sombit Ghosh said.
The Closing Ceremony was commenced with a smart ceremonial marching of the participating contingents into the stadium.
Mr Singh further lauded the Southern Command for the flawless and successful conduct of the event.
The minister gave away the Champions Trophy to the winning Indian team, Runner’s Up Trophy to Uzbekistan and the Second Runner’s Up trophy to Russia.
Later, the ceremony culminated with a cultural programme to depict the rich cultural heritage of India.
