Sitharaman holds bilateral talks with Cambodian counterpart

Aiming to further deepen the bilateral ties between India and Cambodia, defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday held bilateral talks with Cambodian deputy prime minister and defence minister Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh in Phnom Penh. “Strengthening India-Cambodia ties. Defence Minister Smt. @nsitharaman did a bilateral meeting with Deputy Prime Minister & Defence Minister of Cambodia H. E. Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh in Phnom Pen,” Defence Production India said in a tweet. She also met Cambodian prime minister Samdech Hun Sen. Earlier, the minister was welcomed with a ceremonial reception at the Friendship Building in the city. “Smt @nsitharaman receives a ceremonial reception at the Friendship Building in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. @indembcam @PIB_India @MIB_India @MEAIndia,” said the Defence Ministry in a tweet. The minister arrived in the city on a two-day visit. In the beginning of this year, India had signed four pacts with Cambodia as the two nations called for concerted global efforts to eliminate terrorism, including blocking sources of terrorism financing and dismantling terrorist bases. The pacts include a Line of Credit from India to finance the Stung Sva Hab Water Resource Development Project in Cambodia for 36.92 million dollars and an agreement to improve cooperation in the prevention and investigation of crimes and legal assistance in criminal matters.
