Condemning the incident of stone pelting in Kashmir, Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat on Saturday said that the stone pelters are over ground workers of terrorists and they should be dealt strictly.
On Friday, a 22-year-old jawan Rajendra Singh was killed in stone pelting when he escorting a Border Road Organization team in Kashmir.
On his death, Gen Rawat reiterated his earlier stand that the stone-pelters are nothing but over ground workers of terror outfits.
“I still say the same... If they (stone-pelters) can kill people with such acts, are they not becoming like terrorists,” he said.
“I want to tell them (stone-pelters) that no one will benefit from stone-pelting and a tough action should be taken against them,” the army chief added.
He also said the Army has got an FIR registered in the case.
The army chief also sent a tough message to Pakistan, saying if Islamabad continues to support cross-border terrorism, then the Indian Army can resort to “other actions” too.
He was at India Gate to pay tribute on the day of Infantry Day. It is observed every year to commemorate supreme sacrifices made by Indian Army’s infantry.
