In an attempt to make public aware about the fake social media handle being come up post airstrike on February 27 in the name of Wg Cdr Abhinandan Varthaman, the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Wednesday clarified that the air warrior doesn’t have any social media account.
The IAF also appealed to avoid in following the fake account in his name.
In a tweet, the IAF spokesperson said, “FAke ACCOUNTS : Wg Cdr Abhinandan Varthaman does not have a social media account on any portal (Facebook /Instagram /Twitter).”
“Please avoid following any fake accounts being used in the name of any IAF Airwarrior for spreading misinformation,” it added.
The six fake Twitter accounts busted by the Air Force go by these names: @IAFAbhinandanV, @abhinandanhere, @_pilotiaf, @WC_Abhinandan, @AbhiNandan_Wcdr, @W_abhinandan.
The officer was captured by the Pakistani Army after his warplane crash-landed in PoK following an aerial dogfight with fighter jets of the Pakistan Air Force near the Line of Control.
